We are talking about hope today. There are many pastors who are concerned about what the church will look like in the post-pandemic era. Mark and Thom share five reasons pastors should have hope in this new chapter of ministry.
- It is still Christ’s church
- Your community is likely to know you better after the pandemic due to the live-streaming exposure
- Prayer ministries grew during the pandemic
- The community likely recognizes more today the importance of the local church
- God sustained during the pandemic, and He is not going away

Revitalize & Replant is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and ChurchReplanters.com. More than 10% of churches in North America are at risk of closing and the North American Mission Board is committed to reversing this trend by decreasing the death rate of existing churches while simultaneously increasing the birth rate of new churches. Christianity survived the plague.
Nobody shut down the world before
That is not entirely true if you believe the Biblical account of the Flood. God shutdown the whole planet except for a wooden ark bopping around upon the face of the deep. Both from the archeological and historical record we also learn that epidemics, droughts, famines, and a variety of natural and man-made disasters have devastated large areas of the earth’s surface and caused the demise of several civilizations.
The world wasn’t shut down before because of the advent of globalization. The last pandemic in 1918 it wasn’t simple to get from Europe to North America – it took time. There is some truth in the adage “a butterfly flaps its wings in Florida and the effects are felt in India.”
We have the best news, the good news of salvation. Instead of looking at how bad it is in the world, what are we doing to spread hope to a lost world? I look to Ps 91 as my hope for combatting the pandemic, and will not live in fear. What are we doing to help spread the good news?
Great podcast Tom. Lots of hope dispensed here – a practical look at Rom 8:28 stuff God is up to during this time. Who is this an interview with? Mark? I’d like to hear / read more from him, but not sure we got his last name… maybe I missed it?
