    • Revitalize & Replant is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and ChurchReplanters.com. More than 10% of churches in North America are at risk of closing and the North American Mission Board is committed to reversing this trend by decreasing the death rate of existing churches while simultaneously increasing the birth rate of new churches. My name is Kim Murray, and I was reading your article about why “you” think people are leaving the church. Although some of the reasons sounded sort of childish, there are other reasons why people might walk away that are more pertinent or more serious issues. I Do Not care for that word “Entitlement,” because it tends to sound accusatory or critical, as if the person is always demanding something. I stopped going to church for a year and a half because, after listening to my pastor pray, or do sermons, I felt condenmed (even though Jesus said I no longer fit into that category), as if nothing I do is ever right or ever good enough. Yes there are responsibilities that we all have, we all in the Body, have to give and take just like anyone else. In some cases or instances, it could be the people, but in other cases, it could be the clergy, with their fire-breathing judgements, criticisms, and Yes, CONDEMNATION!! So the next time you want to use the phrase ENTITLED, Please remember that!! JK. Murray.

I am using revitalization to help Associations become revitalized. I am a retired DOM in California and have served as an Intentional Interim pastor in several churches in the Los Angeles area with some success. I have used these principles with one Association and am helping another Association start the process of revitalization.

    Dr. Rainer,
Our church would like to sign up for your church health survey at churchhealthreport.com but I have a few questions first. I tried leaving my questions on the “Contact Us” form but it doesn’t seem to be working and there is no phone number listed on the website. My questions are:
    1. If the survey is anonymous how do you insure that one person doesn’t take it several times (are the log-in codes random or sequential)?
    2. Can you send me an anonymous sample of the data analysis report that you provide?
    3. Do you provide suggested “Action Items” for ministries to improve the results?
    4. If we take a survey now and then repeat it in one year, do you provide an “improvements” report?
    Thanks!
    Ray

      Ray –

I think you are expecting too much from a report. Our church used the Revitalize Bundle (which includes the Church Health Report) and followed up with a year of coaching from Church Answers. It has been a blessing. If you are concerned members will “stack the deck” by taking the report multiple times, there are much deeper issues than an inexpensive report can provide.
