Thom and Sam are joined by Dr. Chuck Lawless from Southeastern Seminary. Today’s discussion is on six shifts in church health and revitalization.

The six shifts:

    1. The local church emphasis in church revitalization
    2. The institutional emphasis in church revitalization
    3. The micro-movement
    4. The return to resource-led revitalization
    5. The neighborhood church movement
    6. The facility adjustment issue

Other highlights:

  • We are finally catching up on providing resources and training for church revitalization
  • In order for a big movement to happen, it is going to have to happen through the smaller neighborhood churches.
  • Pastors and other leaders often need a starting point for revitalization.
  • It is very common to find a large worship center and a small congregation.

There are some interesting topics covered on this site, but I don’t have time to listen to every one that ‘looks’ interesting. I like the highlights on the page, but would prefer just a little more detail so I can make a better decision about using my time. For example, what is meant by “institutional emphasis”?

      Jerry –

What you are describing is a blog instead of a podcast. We offer both each week so the audience can choose. But we won’t make each of them both a blog and a podcast.

    Thom, Sam and Chuck:

Thanks for addressing the small/neighborhood churches in this episode – we need all the help we can get and there are so many of us! Bless you all for what you do.
