What does becoming a welcoming church mean??? Aren’t all churches supposed to be welcoming on the first place??? To try to learn how to become welcoming means we are starting from the premise that we are not, which means we have been telling people forever that they are welcome, but in reality they are not. How about becoming welcoming, but also affirming of each person’s gifts, skills, talents and ministries??? Only then the church will experience the real meaning of welcoming; only then people would have better chances to attend church regularly as opposed to visit once or twice and leave as they discover they were told they were welcome, but in reality they were not!!!
Yes, all churches are supposed to be welcoming. But just because a church thinks it is welcoming doesn’t mean it is. The question of welcoming is answered by the visitor and their perception of the church.
