When Pray and Go launched earlier this year, we were excited about the potential it had for creating an outward focus in churches. The early reports are strong indicators that this is happening in churches across the country.
Some highlights from today’s episode include:
- Pray and Go offers an easy on-ramp for churches who are looking to be outward focused in a prayerful way.
- It’s one thing to think you’re a welcoming church, it’s another thing to actually become one.
- When a church’s culture shifts outwardly, the bickering and fighting about internal issues decreases dramatically.
- Culture change in a church takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight.
The 10 updates we discuss are:
- More leaders looking for consistency rather than splash.
- Churches make certain they honor local laws and expectations.
- The church members are already surprised how many homes they can pray over.
- “Feet on the ground” is changing culture.
- Many pastors making really wise adjustments.
- Common comment: “We are determined to be doing Pray and Go over the next several years.”
- Culture is shifting even in the early stages.
- Administrative help is critical.
- “Pray and walk, don’t knock and talk.”
- Low barrier to entry is critical.

If we should not open the mailbox or hang anything on it, what can we do out in the country and rural areas. This is one of the main areas I was hoping to reach. Any thoughts? Thanks! Also, thanks for the Pray and Go update podcast, very helpful!
We have done praying go three times and have decided to carry-on by doing it once a month until we pray for every house in our city.
We have discovered that a few people can do a lot.
The only negative response that we have received in one neighborhood when we arrived back to our vehicle somebody had taken the door hanger and placed It under the windshieldl wiper of the car no message just gave it back to us.
We have developed a second card – different color that we are leaving at area churches
What is the best way to map out the homes? You mentioned using an app. What’s the best app?
I’ve got the only hang up… What do we do in New England where a lot of front doors are fake? Bible on the back door stop?
1. Go to the doors that aren’t fake.
2. Mail a prayer card with the same content as the door hanger with handwritten envelopes.
I like the mail idea especially! I think I’ll run with that.
Sorry for the duplicate comment. People get touchy about going to the back door culturally
In New England we have fake front doors. Any idea for another way of leaving the liturature? People go in through garages, etc.
Any information on results of Pray and Go? Specifically, people who have visited or called the church as a result of Pray and Go?
