Art Rainer joins us to talk about generosity and money matters related to his new book The Money Challenge.
Some highlights from today’s episode include:
- God has designed us not as hoarders but as conduits through which His generosity flows.
- Debt cripples your ability to live generously.
- Pastors are often hesitant to preach on finances as a way to avoid conflict that may result.
- When we give, we should have an eternal perspective for our sacrifice.
- When we are financially healthy, we have a greater ability to be generous for the Kingdom.
- Social media has made “keeping up with the Joneses” exponentially worse.
- Give generously. Save Wisely. Live Appropriately.

I promised that I would lead my church through a holistic stewardship series… this sounds very simple and useful. Can’t wait to read and share!
Thanks, Marvin. It’s perfect for church use. Make sure you buy the box, because the cost is only $5 per book.
This podcast was excellent. To hear about “The Money Challenge” was informative, encouraging, and challenging!
Thank you, Jay!
This is sooo timely!! For such a time as this, in our church & in our American culture.
I agree, Harry!
Reviewed. Great podcast as always!
I appreciate your encouragement and involvement with our ministry, Aaron. I don’t take it for granted.
I don’t know how to leave a comment or quote on Itunes, as requested after listening to your podcast.
I’ll get Jonathan to give you the details, Jay. I appreciate your willingness to do so.
Great podcast with Dr. Art Rainer….already seeing how to implement some of the strategies and play some catch up since I wasn’t molded from early on as a saver. At least I can do something and not just sit around as well as pass the info on to my family. Thanks for all you guys do in the Lord to disciple others.
Well said, D.
Great episode with the Doctors and Jonathan… the book seems like it would be an amazing resource for all believers.
We are greatly encouraged with the response, James. Thank you.
Good word, Art!
Pardon me, Thom – I was thinking of your son when I posted previously.
Good word!
The part about staying out of debt and setting up savings is right on. What they have in common is DISCIPLINE! And discipline with money blossoms in to discipline in so many other areas. Our church did a Ramsey program series about 6 years ago. Doing something similar with the Money Challenge is a good idea.
Not everyone who is in debt is that way because they are spend thrifts. I wish Christians would realize that. Life happens in weird ways. Yours went according to your plan. Well, I’m happy for you…. Mine didn’t. Please be gracious to people like me!
