Pastor and author Robby Gallaty joins us to talk discipleship in the local church. Robby has several resources available to believers and churches to help with making disciples who make disciples. He also tells us a story about John Wesley that neither Jonathan nor I had ever heard. It’s quite fascinating.
Some highlights from today’s episode include:
- How different would other people’s lives be if we really got serious about making disciples who make disciples?
- For years we have taught people how to share their faith, but have neglected to teach them how to share their life with others.
- A return to discipleship is what is going to catapult ahead in the future.
- Most Christians in churches don’t know what to do to disciple others so they don’t do anything at all.
- People grow better in smaller environments.
- If you break discipleship down to the bare minimum, people can follow the process.

The right succession in the right time happened. A relationship with the Lord connect the right Leader to his discipleship multiplying destiny. He started his journey from a-z, from learning to pray, memorizing Scripture to study in a Seminary.
Absolutely. It is a great story.
You absolutely need to have RobbyGallaty on again. I soaked up everything he said and I’m reading his books Growing Up and Firmly Planted. I have begun a D-group myself but in general the church doesn’t feel the need for small groups. What I’m wondering is how do you start this in a group of 50 people who like change to come very slowly? Their mindset is such that they think we aren’t big enough for small groups.
You are right, Aaron. We plan to have him back.
I echo the above sentiments. I finished Rediscovering Discipleship and am halfway through Growing UP…excited for the first time about the prospect of a group like this. I almost felt imprisoned by the 1 on 1 model perpetuated for so long. Thanks!
Thanks, Patrick.
Excellent podcast! As you said on the podcast, it just left me wanting more. Wonderful insights on discipleship and the importance of groups. Leaders like yourself and Robby encourage and inspire us!
Thank tou so much, Steven.
Thanks for having Robby on your podcast. I use Robby’s materials in my D-Groups. Very thorough and just right for disciple making. Thanks Robby for making this investment in our men and in my life, personally.
